Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Phillips Mansion July 12, 2009

Good Tuesday to you, young Pomonans! I had a great time at the Phillips Mansion in Pomona on Sunday. Tours were given on the first floor and I actually got to go inside! I've been wanting to see this house for years and it was great to finally see it. I hope you all took the opportunity to see it.

Joke of the day: Why do spiders enjoy computers so much?
Answer: They like to play on the web. :)

Yes, this was a wonderful and well-attended event. In spite of the heat, people lined up for tours of the mansion and the "flea circus." Lots of great snacks, too..all for $1 each!

My only complaint was being unable to take photos inside the mansion, even without a flash. :(

I'd be curious to know when they might have the Currier House (the home behind Phillips Mansion) restored and open for tours.

I don't know if they're giving tours or not. Contact the Pomona Historical Society. They would know for sure.
