Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Greg Shapton's Farewell Party

These picures were taken last week at our library director's farewell party. It was rather bitter sweet because we are glad for his retirement but we don't want him to retire!

Good luck, Mr. Shapton, and don't forget to come back and visit!

Because of arthritis in my knee, I can't come into work. Ms. Nissa will be doing the story times until I can come back. I'll miss you!! I'll keep you posted as to when I return.

Joke of the day: What car do kittens drive?

Answer: A cat-alac! ;)

Memorial Day

Memorial Day by natural gas
Memorial Day, a photo by natural gas on Flickr.

This coming Monday is Memorial day. It's a time to reflect on all the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. Some came home and some lost their lives so that we can live in a safe community.

I always remember my Uncle Francis Orin Moore. He was a fighter pilot and was shot down over Germany during WWII. I never met him but I was born on his birthday. It doesn't get better than that.

Have a safe weekend and we'll see you next week.

Joke of the day: What do you call a sick eagle?
Answer: An ill-eagle. ;)
