Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Goodbye Pomona Public Library

Hello young Pomonans!  The time has come for me to retire and I just can't believe it!  It's been a great 23 years.  Shoot, I've been here longer than most of you have been alive!  The Pomona Public Library is an awesome library and it will continue to be for many, many years.

The most fun for me was to watch you all come in.  Before you could read, you would sit with a picture book and make up the story by looking at the pictures.  I loved that!  Then you could read and I would watch with pride the joy you got from reading all on your own.  Then you would come by and say "hi Ms. Lois" as you breezed on by to pick out your own chapter book.  Then you adjusted over to the Young Adult area to find what treasures lay there.  By the time I lost you to the adult room you still had a kind word to say to the lady who used to read to you.  Goodbye my sweet Young Pomonans.  You'll all be in my heart.

Ms. Lois
