Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

A Good Time With Georgette Baker

As you can see by these photos we had a great time with Georgette Baker. She is a very lively storyteller and a good singer as well. She taught us words in Spanish and we also sang in Spanish. In the picture where the children are shaking, we are singing "Cho-co-lat-te" and they are shaking the chocolate milk! The map behind her was used to show us where her stories and songs came from. She even educated us about different animals in South America. She showed us a picture of the "Blue Footed Boobie" that resides in the Galapagos Islands.

It was great fun and if you missed it you missed a very good program. Of course it was a little hard to follow a real live alligator (like we had last week) but she did great. If you did miss the show today I'm sure we'll have her back.

Next week we are having a science program with Richard Wade. Science will amaze you! See you here!!

Joke of the day: What makes an excellent baker?
Answer: One who caters to your every knead. :)
