Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Flower Craft

Our craft today was fun!! We didn't have a lot of people, but we had quality people. If you don't know what I'm talking about: look the words up in the dictionary!

The last few days you having been asking about country books. If you need a book on a certain country, please come in soon. We are running low and a lot of you are doing the same country. We can give out encyclopedias, but books are better. (You get more information.) The same is true for California Mission books and science projects. We don't have much longer until school is out so please don't wait too long to come in. I've seen some children and parents come in at the last minute and it's not pretty!

Joke of the day: Why did the sun get straight A's?
Answer: Because he was very bright! :)

Kite Craft!

Our craft with Grandma Sue went very well today. There weren't a whole lot of people but those who were there had fun and had lots of help. We were all amazed how well these children colored, especially the 3 year old girl in the picture who colored inside of the lines. Truth be told she colors better than I do. But then I've told you about how I'm not so great at crafts...

Tomorrow is the homework center from 4:00-5:00pm. They have a big new sign set up where you see it when you come into the library. Some don't think it's big enough. What do you think?

Joke for the day: Why couldn't Batman go fishing?
Answer: Because Robin ate all the worms. :)

Have a great weekend and while you are doing your weekend stuff, think about coming into the Library next week.

Monday is St. Patrick's Day so remember to wear green unless you actually enjoy being pinched. I don't. I have a full proof green button in my desk at work that usually saves me each year when I forget to wear green!

Rumor has it that PUSD has a "pupil free day" (gotta love that term), on Tuesday, so come into the library for reading, homework help, or to drive us crazy. We actually enjoy that!

Wednesday we will have a spring craft so Grandma Sue will be leading this by showing you how to make bunny faces out of cotton balls. It's actually quite cute. (Grandma Sue has a crafty mind....)

For the young ones, story time is on Tues. 10:15am, Wed. at 10:00am, and Thursday at 10:00am.

Have a great weekend and remember to be kind to humans and animals. You'll feel good if you do.

March Spring Craft

Do you like to make things? Join Grandma Sue on Wednesday March 19, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. We will be making a Bunny Rabbit. It's really soft, and you can hang it in your window or on the fridge, or on the wall in you room. All of our crafts are free so remember the date and I'll see you then.
