Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Love this sign!

Seattle Public Library

Wouldn't this be great to have in our library? This is actually at the Seattle Public Library. Yesterday I visited a friend in Indio, California. She took me to her library out there. While it wasn't as fabulous as our library, it was nice to visit and see what other libraries are doing. Right now they are doing the In-N-Out Food for Thought reading program. We do that in the fall. Their children's section was way off to the side and they didn't even have a children's librarian working. The YA section was quite small as well. On the good side, their adult room was large and had quite a few public computers. The new books were located in the front where you come in. I left with the thought that it was a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to work there. :)

I will be so glad to get back to work on Monday! I miss seeing your smiling faces. Please make sure to come in next week. Your parents may need to come in to get tax forms so come on over to Childrens and say hey to us. It really brightens our day!

I love reading! Unfortunately...buying new books can be expensive at times and I have overdue fines (not much though). I've been hesitating to go into the Library lately to suggest a book called 'Edible Estates' in fear they won't let me suggest one without paying my fine. I also hesitate knowing I wouldn't be able to spend all day at the Library and I know I'll want to finish whatever I'm reading but won't be able to take it home. I wan't to pay my $14 and something fine soon, but I can't afford to right now, perhaps next month or later this month. Hopefully soon...I miss the Library.

Hi Garrett,

You can still come into the library and suggest books. You can use the library but won't be able to use the computers or check out. Please don't stay away because of fines. I'd like to meet you anyway. I like your blog and I read your posts on the Goddess' blog and also on M-M-M-My Pomona's blog. See you soon and thanks for stopping by on the blog.
