Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Weekly Activities

Hello young Pomonans! We have had inquiries about when our story times are so I thought it would be appropriate to put our weekly activities back on the blog. Here it is:

Tuesday: 11:45am Preschool story time ages 2-5
4:00-6:00pm Homework help center for children grades 1-6

Wednesday: 3:30pm Grandparents and books. Grandma Jean reads books aloud and if children would like to practice reading, they can read aloud as well.
4:00-6:00pm Homework help center

Thursday: 11:45am Infant story time ages 0-2
4:00-6:00pm Homework help center

The homework help center is staffed by students at Cal Poly Pomona who volunteer their time to help our kids. They do a really great job and and our students very much enjoy them. Don't let this opportunity pass you by! Come down to the library and get your homework done!

Joke of the day: Why do birds fly south in the winter?
Answer: Because it's too far to walk! ;)

Excellent! On a good day we have about 20 babies and care givers. I put out toys because their attention span isn't very long and care givers have a chance to talk with each other as well.

Welcome!
