Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

A Great Day of Dr. Seuss

Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday, young Pomonans! We had a story time with Dr. Seuss' stories and then we had a craft. The craft was a Dr. Seuss door hanger. As you can see in the picture, it was double sided with one side saying, "Come in come play with me and the Cat in the Hat today." The other side says, "Please stay away I'm reading with the Grinch today." It all was great fun!

Do you know how old Dr. Seuss would be if he were alive today? He was born in 1904 and would be 106 today!

Did you know that Dr. Seuss once came to the Pomona Public Library? The pictures of him in this post was of a picture he gave us when he was here at the Pomona Public Library. If you can't read what he wrote on his picture it says: "With best wishes to my friends at the Pomona Public Library." How cool is that?

Have a great 106th birthday, Dr. Seuss.

Joke of the day: Why did the man take a pencil to bed?
Answer: To draw the curtains!
I'd tell you another pencil joke but it doesn't have any point! ;)
