Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Read Across America Day at Mendoza Elementary

Good day, young Pomonans! It was a great day to share the love of reading at Mendoza Elementary school. The Cat in the Hat showed up as did Thing 1 and Thing 2! Also Goldie the Eagle, which is Mendoza's mascot, After Shock, who is mascot for the Quakes (Trembler couldn't make it this year.) We had fire fighters, police officers, Assemblywomen Norma Torres, as well as commuity workers from all over the city. It was great fun!

One of Pomona Public Library's own patron won as the best in her grade. I have to get permission from her parents in order to post about her but hopefully I can get that soon. I was soooooo proud of her! She loves to read and it really helped her.

Have a great weekend everyone! It is a great time to be alive and live here in the City of Pomona!

Joke of the day: What do you get when you combine Dr. Seuss and Shakespeare?
Answer: Green Eggs and Hamlet! ;)
