Good day, young Pomonans! I came across a book today that I wanted to share with you. I'm weeding through the 800's. (That's library talk that means I'm going through the poetry section and removing books that are terribly worn or that never get checked out.) The illustrations are really cute and the poetry is great. Let me share some with you:
Lewis, J. Patrick, Please Bury Me In the Library.
Oralando, Florida: Harcourt, Inc. 2005
Illustrated by Kyle M. Stone
Well, I came across this most unfortunate paragraph:
All rights reserved. No part of the publication may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means...
I'm going to check into this further.
Anyway, come in and check out this book! The call # is: X811Lewis, J.
Joke of the day: P.E. teacher: Why did you kick that ball straight at the school computer?
Child: Because you told me to put it in the net. ;)

Black Out In the Library!
Good day, young Pomonans! Wow, I think I saw each and every one of you yesterday! We haven't been that busy in a long time. It was wonderful! Unfortunately, right in the middle of all the fun we lost power. Not once but twice! The first time we had a back up system of sorts but soon that went out as well. We had to evacuate the building and some of you actually waited the hour or so until we opened again. It was quite an experience! I've been here at PPL (20 years in August) and I can truly say that you never know what is going to happen around here. It has made a wonderful experience. These pictures show you what it was like in the library without lights. The top picture was taken on the staircase near the elevator and the others were taken upstairs near the children's room.
I hope to see all of you and more today!
Joke of the day: How did Noah see in the dark?
Answer: By Ark-lights and flood lights! ;)

Pomona Spring Break!
Hey young Pomonans! What are you all doing for spring break? How about coming to the library and just read for fun? We will show you where all the really great books are and you can relax and read all week. How great does that sound? Or like the kids in this picture, create something new.
Just don't forget that we are here for you. There won't be any Homework Center this week because you all are not in school!
See you soon!
Joke of the day: Why did the hen cross the road?
Answer: To prove she wasn't chicken! ;)

Happy Birthday, Grandma Jean!
Good Thursday, young Pomonans! Yesterday we had the privilege of celebrating Grandma Jean's 85th birthday! Happy birthday Grandma Jean! Grandma Jean has been with us since we introduced the Grandparents and Books program back in 1992. She has been reading with us for eighteen years!
She has been a very loyal volunteer who loves to read to children. Thank you for your years of service and for your commitment to the Pomona Public Library.
We love you Grandma Jean!!
Joke of the day: How did Jack (of the Jack and the Beanstalk fame) know how much his cow was worth?
Answer: He used a cowculator! ;)
