Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

You Are Cordially Invited to the 42nd Annual Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable!

Pomona Public Library is having its 42nd Annual Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable on Saturday, February 2, 2008, from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.!

You'll be able to listen to songs that were popular in Laura's Day, get a hands-on chance to learn and experience true pioneer life, and join Grandma Sue for a craft that your children can take home!

Dressing up is encouraged, but not required! (Although it is fun to dress up like Laura and pretend to be a pioneer in costume. ;) )

The event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Pomona Public Library.

May I be the first to post:

Welcome to the blogosphere. I hope the blog helps advertise all the wonderful and educational programs that go on at Pomona's public library. The children's section of the Pomona Library has been one of the highlights of raising a young son in Pomona.

Mr. Big and I will see you at the sociable. Can't wait to tell Mr. Big that Ms. Lois now has cats AND a blog!
