Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

New Library Hours at the Pomona Public Library

Good Thursday, young Pomonans! You have probably heard that the City of Pomona is having to cut their budget by quite a bit. This is going to affect the library as well as every other part of Pomona. Our library board met yesterday and voted to accept the proposal. It is very sad indeed but hopefully it won't last forever.

First of all I'd like to say that our Library director, Greg Shapton, did the best he could possibly do in a difficult situation. He kept us as staff together as a team and we are very grateful for that. Here are the new hours:

Monday through Wednesday: 12:00pm to 7:00pm
Thursday, Friday, and Sunday: Closed
Saturday: 12:00pm to 5:00pm

Remember that we are still here for you! The Summer Reading Program will be happening as usual as well as our Reading Buddies. More on that next week.

So hang in there my young friends and come in to see us. You are still very loved at the library.

Joke of the day: What did the wood cutter's wife say to her husband in December?
Answer: Not many chopping days left until Christmas! ;)

Wow, it sucks that to get longer day hours, you had to cut the time in half. But you know what, I have an idea, and since I know now that you guys are open today, I think I might call you.

Call away, Melody. We'd love to hear from our former teen resident!
