Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!
Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.
This Thursday June 25th we are having a great program. Author Gil Sperry will be presenting his "Mariachi 101". With him will be Genesis Codina a Pomona resident who just turned 12 years old. Genesis is an accomplished ranchera singer who recently opened the Fifth Annual Battle of the Mariachi at Mission San Juan Capistrano, emceed by Sperry, with a stirring acapella version of our National Anthem. Genesis has also appeared in the feature film, "Street Kings," with Keanu Reaves and Academy Award winner, Forrest Whittaker.
You won't want to miss this show. It is June 25th at 5:00pm.
Joke of the day: Why are musical programs the best? Answer: You can't "beat" it! :)
