Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Gingerbread Sociable

Good Tuesday, young Pomonans! It is the end of January, so what event is coming to PPL in February??? The Laura Ingalls Wilder Gingerbread Sociable of course!! This is our 45th consecutive year of honoring Laura close to her birthday. Her actual birthday is February 7th, but we do the Sociable the first Saturday of February.

This year we are having Craig Newton perform music that Pa probably played on his fiddle. Craig plays many different instruments and will tell you what they are called and where the instrument comes from. As you can see in this picture, he involves the children in his presentation. Craig is really, really good. Do not miss out on this!! Mark your calendars for Febuary 5, 2011 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Pomona Public Library and they will provide refreshments as well!!

See you here!!!

Joke of the day: What is white when dirty and black when clean?
Answer: A blackboard! ;)
