Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

47th Annual Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable Coming February 2, 2013

Good Tuesday young Pomonans!  Our 47th Annual Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable will be February 2, 2013 from 1:00-3:00pm.

A HUGE thank you to the Friends of the Pomona Public Library for sponsoring this yearly event.  It doesn't seem possible we have been doing this for 47 years straight!

This year we are happy to have Judith Helton (pictured on the left).  As you can see she dresses up as Laura Ingalls Wilder and tells Laura's stories in the first person.  For example, "I am Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder and when I was a child we had a dog named Jack."  She tells Laura's stories with enthusiasm.  The Friends will also be doing a craft.  You will be making a bonnet to take home!  Also this year we will have a musical group from the Pomona School of Arts and Enterprises to entertain us.
