Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

It's Thanksgiving, Young Pomonans!

Yes, it's the week of Thanksgiving. It's hard to believe. Because it is the week of Thanksgiving, we have days that we will be closed.

Here is our schedule:

Monday: 12:00pm-7:00pm

Tuesday: Closed

Wednesday: Closed

Thursday: Closed

Friday: Closed

Saturday: 12:00pm-5:00pm

Sunday: Closed

It's a little disheartening to be closed so much but we are very thankful to have our beautiful library.

Have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends.

Joke of the day: Why did the pilgrims' pants always fall down?
Answer: Because they wore their belt buckle on their hat! ;)

Good beautiful Saturday, young Pomonans! Aren't these pictures beautiful? Last week I took my Mom up to Oak Glen and I just had to take these pictures to show you how incredible it is up there. It isn't very far so maybe you can go up there sometime. They have the best apples (and apple cobbler) around!

Joke of the day: How do you make a hot dog stand?
Answer: Take away its chair! ;)

Good Tuesday, young Pomonans! We had a GREAT time with our Pomona firefighters today. They read books and told us what happens in an average day with our firefighters. It was great fun. Did you know that they will rescue cats from trees if you ask them? I had no idea.

After that we had a craft where you made your own firefighter. It was a really good day.

Thank you to our Pomona firefighters for giving their time to us and to all of you who came and participated. Pomona is AWESOME!

Joke of the day: What do you call a flying police officer?
Answer: A helicopper! ;)

This is a tie in to our Big Read in Pomona. We are reading Fahrenheit 451. Since you all are too young to read, we are having a firefighter tell you what they do. He or she may read you a story as well!

When: Tomorrow 11/9/2010
Time: 12:15pm

We will have infant story time at 1:00pm.

See you then!

Joke of the day: What do you call a police officer that doesn't get out of bed?

Answer: An undercover cop! ;)
