Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Home at the Wonderful Pomona Public Library

Hello young Pomonans! I had a very good vacation again this year. I went to Scottsbluff/Gering, Nebraska to visit relatives. My great grandparents settled in this area. Then my Grandfather had a dairy farm which my Mom grew up on. Now I have an Uncle and cousins still there and it was so great to see them. My mom and my Uncle Don are twins and they celebrated their 89 1/2 birthday together! Now that's old! :)

As always it is wonderful to get back to our Pomona Public Library. We will start up business as usual starting the 15th of September.

Our hours for the next two weeks are: Tuesday-Thursday: 10:00am-6:00pm
Friday-Saturday: 11:30am-5:30pm
Sunday-Monday: Closed

Starting the 14th of September: Tuesday-Thursday: 11:30am-7:30pm
Friday-Saturday: 11:30am-5:30pm
Sunday-Monday: Closed

Storytimes are:

Tuesdays: Preschool Storytime ages 2-5: 11:45am

Thursdays: Infant Storytime ages 0-2: 11:45am

It will be good to see you again!! By the way, we will be closed on your first day of school: September 8th in observation of Labor Day.

Adios! That's right I'm going on vacation. Today is my last day at work and I leave for the good old midwest on Monday. I haven't visited my family for several years and it will be good to see them.

I plan on going to as many libraries as I can and I may blog from on the road. I'll try to talk Ms. Nissa and Grandma Sue to continue blogging from home.

We had a terrific summer! I can't remember laughing this hard in a long time. The final count for our readers this summer is: 1,018 readers! We met our goal and surpassed it and had a lot of fun along the way.

You have a couple of weeks to rest and then school begins again. Remember that we are here for you!

I'm Back!

It is great to be back! Since you are all on spring break, spring on into the library. A lot of you were in today and all the computers were filled! This is a good week for you to catch up on homework or get ahead. It's also a good week just to read for fun. We're ready for you. New books for both children and YA's have been put out on our new books shelf. Check it out! (Literally.)

For the preschool set, the month of April is as follows:

Tuesday story time: 10:15am with Ms. Lois is on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th. We meet every Tuesday unless we are closed.
Wednesday toddler time: 10:00am with Ms. Nissa is on the 9th only. Ms. Nissa will start up again May 14th.
Thursday infant story time with Grandma Sue is on April 10th, & 17th.
She begins again May 1st.

So come on in to either catch up, move ahead or to read for fun.

Seattle Public Library

Wouldn't this be great to have in our library? This is actually at the Seattle Public Library. Yesterday I visited a friend in Indio, California. She took me to her library out there. While it wasn't as fabulous as our library, it was nice to visit and see what other libraries are doing. Right now they are doing the In-N-Out Food for Thought reading program. We do that in the fall. Their children's section was way off to the side and they didn't even have a children's librarian working. The YA section was quite small as well. On the good side, their adult room was large and had quite a few public computers. The new books were located in the front where you come in. I left with the thought that it was a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to work there. :)

I will be so glad to get back to work on Monday! I miss seeing your smiling faces. Please make sure to come in next week. Your parents may need to come in to get tax forms so come on over to Childrens and say hey to us. It really brightens our day!

My Dream Vacation

I go on vacation next week. This is my dream vacation because a vacation like this is only in my dreams. The truth is I have a lot of vacation hours and I need to lower them. Am I going anywhere? Well, maybe to Upland Public Library, or maybe I'll take Flat Stanley to the beach...

All our programs will be going strong. I will be coming in for the Tuesday story time. (How could I possibly miss the April 1st story time? I pull all the silly stories I can get my hands on.) My favorite is "The Twist Mouth Family". I bet you can't guess what is silly about that family!

Toddler time and Infant story time will be Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00am. Ms. Nissa and Grandma Sue do a GREAT job with these groups.

Don't forget our homework center. Tuesday and Thursday the hours are 4:00pm-6:00pm. and Wednesday 3:00pm-5:00pm. This is for students in grades 3 through 6.

Grandparents and Books is Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm. Grandma Jean comes in especially for this and does an excellent job. She even lets you practice your reading if you want too.
