Welcome to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Room!

Ms. Clara Webber was the first children's librarian of Pomona Public Library. A long time correspondent with Mrs. Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was instrumental in having the Children's Room named in honor of Mrs. Wilder on May 25, 1950. Today, we house the original hand written manuscript for the novel Little Town on the Prairie. Every February, we host the Laura Ingalls Wilder Sociable in honor of Mrs. Wilder's February 7th birthday.

WOW!! Did we have a great time with willow?? YES!! Willow is a wonderful dog and her trainer, Officer Hernandez was a great storyteller. He told us of her work as a k9 detective. In fact, Willow received an award from the City of Pomona. Officer Hernandez and Willow were flown up to Northern California to help find a fugitive who was hiding in a huge wilderness area and was armed with a gun. They had been looking for this fugitive for five weeks with no luck. When officer Hernandez and Willow got there, they found the fugitive on the second day.

We are so proud of them! As you can see in the pictures, Willow loves everyone. She's very good with small children. Isn't her badge cool??

If you weren't here you missed a wonderful time. We asked Officer Hernandez that when Willow retires, would she be willing to be a library dog?? Please??? :)

Joke of the day: What do dogs and trees have in common?
Answer: They both have bark! :)
